Highlands, North Carolina

If you are interested in a quiet, quaint honeymoon, then consider Highlands, North Carolina.  Highlands is located in the mountains of North Carolina and is generally associated with nearby Cashiers, North Carolina.

Highlands/Cashiers is a great place to relax, enjoy an outdoor/mountainous environment, and have fun in a very laid-back culture.  Highlands features a nice district of shopping, hotels, and restaurants.  It also gives visitors easy access to a variety of hiking trails and mountain/river gorge vistas.  The nearby Nantahala Outdoor Center is an excellent place for white water rafting and kayaking.

Plan your trip accordingly as the best time to visit is generally Spring and Summer.  Other times of the year are not as heavily populated with visitors and many shops/hotels/restaurants are not open during the off-season.  Also understand that Highlands is not a particularly lively location for nightlife.
